Wow. WSER was as it ever is – THRILLING! I mean, Walmsley taking down his own record (14:09:28). Hazen taking down the old record (14:26:46). Debuts in the Top 10. Great weather. On the women’s side our fierce pacers, Maria & Nikki helped lead their women to not one, but two Top 10 finishes! In a turn of events, Courtney Dauwalter, who was ahead of record pace dropped around Mile 79.8 due to injury, and Clare Gallagher took the throne, winning in 17:23:25. Maria paced a portion for Kaytlyn Gerbin, who had one of the most exciting finishes in a sprint on the track in the last few yards, overtaken by Camelia Mayfield for a mere seconds splay between 5th & 6th! Nikki paced former teammate (since moved to California), Corrine Malcolm, who showed her consistency in another Top 10 Finish for the 2nd year in a row, taking 10th! We were incredibly inspired by Ladia Albertson-Junkans’ finish at her first WSER #BravelikeGabe For a great article Pre-2019 Western States by iRunFar, check this out!
